Liquified Cargo Handling Simulator: LCHS - LNG

Liquified Cargo Handling Simulator LCHS LPG LEG LNG

Scope and Objective:

The Scope and objectives of “ The Liquified Cargo Handling Simulator ( LCHS ) – LNG  course ” are to acquire knowledge and develop skills relating to the effective operation, supervision and monitoring of Cargo Loading, Containment, Discharging in LNG Tankers,  acting as a Team. This course is designed according to the IMO Model Course  1.36 “LNG TANKER CARGO & BALLAST HANDLING SIMULATOR” . The  LCHS – LNG Course  addresses the following competence requirements:

  1. Regulation I/12, Sections A-I/12, B- 1/12 and
  2. Table A-V/1-2-2 of the STCW Convention and and Code as amended

The DNV approved LCHS- LNG e-Simulator models a LNG tanker of 144,009.4 m3 (temp -163° C) with membrane tanks. The design of the cargo containment system is spherical independent tanks of Kværner-Moss Technology (Moss) consisting of a single wall, insulated, spherical tank, supported by a vertically built skirt. The Membrane type LNG carrier is IGC type 2G LNG ship with vapor pressures within the atmospheric to 0.25 bars range. The design of the cargo containment system is independent Prismatic tanks which have two barriers forming a thermal insulating membrane tank based on the GAZ Transport and Technigaz (GTT) mark III System

The Simulator exercises are supervised by an experienced instructor and allow the trainee to become familiar with the operation of LNG cargo loading, containment and discharging operation. Each exercise is preceded by a briefing session and followed up by a group debrief, which analyzes the actions and decisions of the trainee.

This course is highly customized to meet and then exceed the industry training requirements for working in Liquified Gas industry. They also focus on the relation between human attitude and a safe and efficient operation of LNG tankers.

” The LCHS – LNG  course” is designed as per industry requirement and covers different aspects of  LNG production and supply chain, Regulatory Frame works, Properties of LNG , Thermodynamics, Design & Construction of Cargo Containment System, Propulsion Systems including steam, DFDE etc, Cryogenic pumps, heaters, vaporisers, Reliquification Plant and boil off control, safety checks, shore storage, floating terminals, cargo transfer system, ship-shore interface and compatibility process, ESD etc.

This is a Value added Course conducted using e-Simulator streamed directly to the trainee computer at his/her home.
