Scope and Objective:
The Scope and objectives of ” Asbestos Handling awareness training ” is to create awareness amongst personnel who may be exposed to asbestos at, or above, the permissible exposure levels, and personnel who perform housekeeping or maintenance operations in areas that have asbestos-containing materials and potential asbestos-containing materials.
Asbestos is a highly hazardous material and is typically found in the buildings that are constructed or refurbished before 2000. This material poses a major threat to the health of workers handling it. Hence it is important to create Asbestos Handling Awareness and provide the necessary training to those who come across this asbestos or asbestos-containing materials. This necessary knowledge will ensure that such employees work safely.
Asbestos awareness training should be taken on an annual basis by custodial and building maintenance staff; training is required per the OSHA code 29 CFR 1926.1001. This training module is designed to provide an overview of asbestos and its associated hazards. It is important for employees who work in building related maintenance to know where asbestos is likely to be found and how to avoid exposure.
Asbestos awareness training aims to provide learners with an understanding of the hazards associated with exposure to asbestos. It will also identify where asbestos may be found, how it can potentially affect your health, and what you need to do to protect yourself from exposure.
